European Ocean Days: An unified front
The vibrant atmosphere of European Ocean Days buzzed with collaboration and shared purpose, and SUNDANSE was thrilled to be right in the heart of it all. This event, held during 3 March – 7 March 2025, in Brussels (Belgium) provided a platform to connect with fellow advocates and present one of crucial messages: promoting the interconnected sustainability of rivers and oceans.

As a proud member of the Danube Lighthouse, one of the four key Lighthouses within the Mission Ocean & Waters, SUNDANSE stands alongside a powerful network of projects committed to a healthier planet. This collaboration underscores the critical link between Danube River pollution solutions and overall ocean health.

The Danube Lighthouse encompasses a diverse range of initiatives, including:

SUNDANSE at the Fresh Water event
Fresh Water was held on the March 6, 2025 as a clustering event organised specifically for the EU-funded initiatives related to the fresh water. SUNDANSE participated by contributing to the crucial discussions on freshwater management and climate challenges. By engaging in dialogues on stakeholder involvement, project replicability, and policy recommendations, SUNDANSE aimed to foster synergies with other EU projects and contribute to the development of effective strategies for a sustainable freshwater future.

Our presence at European Ocean Days emphasized the crucial connection between river and ocean ecosystems. The visual representation of 💚+💙=❤️ perfectly illustrates how healthy rivers contribute to thriving oceans. We highlighted the importance of sustainable ocean initiatives in Europe and the vital role of the Danube River in the broader marine environment. During the event, SUNDANSE team shared our progress and insights, focusing on fostering sustainable practices and raising awareness about the Danube’s impact on marine ecosystems. We actively sought synergies and collaborations, recognizing that collective action is essential for achieving environmental sustainability.
