Research vessel REXDAN embarks on Danube expedition for SUNDANSE Project

Galați, Romania [July, 2025] – Within the SUNDANSE project, newest and most advanced research vessel in Europe – REXDAN, is set to embark on a significant mission along the Danube River, traveling from Galați, Romania, to Vienna, Austria, between July 14 and August 10, 2025. This expedition aims to conduct vital research on the Danube ecosystem, foster collaboration, and engage with academic and international communities. 

The primary objectives of this mission include: 

  • Comprehensive environmental determinations: Researchers will conduct in-depth analyses of the Danube ecosystem, focusing on the quality of water, air, and sediments. The mission will also include essential bathymetric determinations. 
  • Stakeholder engagement and collaboration: The expedition will actively seek contact with stakeholders and potential collaborators involved in similar research and initiatives along the Danube. 
  • Academic and international outreach: The team is eager to present their findings and the SUNDANSE project’s goals to academic communities and international organisations with interests in the Danube region.

  • Belgrade, Serbia: Monday, July 21, 2025 
  • Budapest, Hungary: Thursday, July 24 and Friday, July 25, 2025 
  • Bratislava, Slovakia: Monday, July 28, 2025 
  • Vienna, Austria: Wednesday, July 30 and Thursday, July 31, 2025 
  • Novi Sad, Serbia: Tuesday, 5 August, 2025

 

The SUNDANSE project invites a diverse group of participants to join activities on board the ship at these key locations, including project partners, representatives from universities and research institutes, relevant stakeholders, national and international institutions, experts from other similar projects.
