SUNDANSE hosts two sediment workshops at CHEMSUSLIFE Conference in Galați

From 8 to 10 October 2026, the SUNDANSE project team represented by our partners from Dunărea de Jos` University of Galați took part in the CHEMSUSLIFE International Conference in Galați, Romania.

About CHEMSUSLIFE

CHEMSUSLIFE is the 1st edition of the INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON FUNDAMENTAL AND APPLIED CHEMISTRY – NEW FRONTIERS FOR A SUSTAINABLE LIFE organised by Dunărea de Jos` University of Galați , Romanian Chemical Society and Romanian Ministry of Education & Research. The main goal of the conference is to promote the most recent and innovative research in chemistry at the fundamental-applied interface to tackle global challenges such as environmental pollution, climate change, and resource depletion.

The conference gathered over 100 researchers to share practical science tackling global issues like environmental pollution, climate change, and resource depletion. Discussions spanned five core areas:

  • Green and sustainable chemistry,

  • Advanced materials and nanostructures,

  • Environmental chemistry, pollution control, and resource recovery,

  • Bioactive compounds and life sciences,

  • Education for a sustainable life.

SUNDANSE Workshops

As part of the event agenda, the SUNDANSE team hosted two dedicated workshops onboard the REXDAN research vessel focused on river health and sediment management:

1. Sediment Monitoring in Practice: Challenges and Perspectives

This session brought together more than 80 participants. The focus was on real-world sediment management, giving experts, stakeholders, and researchers a chance to discuss practical monitoring hurdles along the river.

2. Danube Monitoring Knowledge Exchange

The second workshop focused on sharing proven methods, field experience, and daily monitoring practices across different sections of the Danube.
